Assignment No. 1 – Snapshot from somewhere else
… we did manage to get the device to power up. At first I thought someone was humming. Right before I told everyone they needed to be quiet the sound increased to almost deafening levels. We were all immediately blinded by a sudden flash. When our sight returned we realized one of our crew was gone and then we saw this on the screen…

In this project, we will be focusing on getting used to using Photoshop and its interface. You will use these tools and concepts to create a pleasing composition by selecting other images and copy and pasting them into your final image. We will be using these skills to create a digital collage that will look like a snapshot from a different dimension that includes you or someone you know.

In our first assignment, we will be creating a collage that will look like a snapshot of you or someone you know taken in a different dimension. The subject matter can be as silly, weird or serious as you’d like but it must be monotone (only one color. Sorry, that’s apparently how the device worked).
The image must be created through collage, contain a picture of you or someone you know (not taken with a camera on a computer) and there must be something about the location that could not exist in this world.

The final piece will be an unflattened Photoshop .psd file that is at least 1080 pixels on one side containing at least one picture taken by you. The picture should lead your eye around the composition and show the subject in a location or dimension that is different from our own. The .psd file will be sent to me no later than the beginning or critique. A jpg version should be uploaded to the proper dropbox on our homeroom site.
The piece should also contain all of the items in the “Requirements and grading criteria” section below.
